Legal Literacy - Law enforcement ideally not only talks about articles and procedures, but also common sense and a sense of justice. However, this basic principle seems to be absent in the case that occurred in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta. A husband named Hogi Minarya, whose wife was a victim of snatch theft, was even named a suspect after he chased the perpetrator of the crime. This case not only invites public concern, but also raises serious questions about whether the law is still on the side of the victim, or is it getting further away from a sense of justice? The incident began on April 26, 2025 on the Tambak Bayan Bridge, Sleman. At that time, Hogi Minarya's wife was the victim of snatch theft by two perpetrators using a motorcycle. In a panic and instinct to protect his family, Hogi tried to chase the perpetrator. The chase resulted in the perpetrator's motorcycle crashing into a wall and both snatch thieves died on the spot. Instead of getting appreciation or at least legal protection as a victim of crime, Hogi was even named a suspect by the Sleman Police with allegations of negligence that caused the death of another person, qualified as a traffic accident case. This decision immediately sparked widespread controversy in the community.
