Legal Literacy - The continuity of a country in the future is highly determined by its financial strength. Therefore, the optimization of state revenue must be the concern of all parties, not only the government, but also all stakeholders and levels of society. Joint efforts are needed to maximize income from various existing sources, where taxes are only one component. Amidst rapid technological advancements, we have the momentum to leverage innovation to boost state revenue to a much better level.

The Crucial Role of Technology in Optimizing State Revenue

The future is indeed full of uncertainty, including in terms of state revenue. However, without adequate preparation from now on, it is impossible for us to overcome future challenges. One of the biggest threats is the potential for revenue leakage. For this reason, we must be able to read trends and identify potential sectors that can be improved, both from taxes and non-taxes. The onslaught of technology is not a threat, but an opportunity. Technology that can now be accessed anytime and anywhere must be utilized to drastically increase state revenue. With wise adoption, this progress will be the driving force for improvement in various sectors, ensuring that development goals can run as they should.

Digital Transformation: From Economy to Public Services

The shift towards a digital state revenue system is no longer a luxury, but a fundamental necessity. The modern economy has entered the digital realm, where manual trading is now shifting to online platforms such as websites and applications. However, it is important to remember that technology is only a tool to simplify the way humans work, not an end in itself. With this awareness, the management of the digital economy can be utilized effectively. The same applies to public services. The presence of digital-based services aims to complement, not replace, manual services. The goal is to provide maximum service in order to increase public satisfaction and participation, which ultimately has a positive impact on state revenue. This transformation must also be accompanied by improvements in bureaucratic culture. State apparatus needs to be equipped with adequate knowledge so that they are ready to provide the best digital services.

Diversification of Revenue Sources: Going Beyond the Tax Sector

The state's revenue sources are not solely derived from taxes. There is also Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) which has great potential, such as:
  • Royalties from the utilization of natural resources
  • Dividends deposited by State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN)
  • Revenue from carbon trading schemes
To maximize these sources, a strong and adaptive regulatory framework is needed, capable of keeping up with the rapid changes of the times. A grand idea is needed, such as the 2045 Digital Fiscal Grand Design, a roadmap that includes policy reforms, national data integration targets, and cross-sector collaboration.

Maintaining Ethics and Public Trust in the Digital Space

Technological innovation must go hand in hand with digital ethics and respect for citizens' rights. Without strong protection, digitalization can be in vain. The protection of personal data in every digital transaction is absolute; the data must be guarded, protected, and kept confidential. Public trust is the main foundation. For example, awareness of paying taxes ideally arises from the understanding that these contributions are beneficial for national development, not because of fear. This trust will grow if the people are convinced that the funds they pay are managed transparently and fairly. The digital space must be a means of healthy discussion and control between society (civil society) and policymakers.

A National Movement for the Advancement of Indonesia

Adapting to technological change is not just a policy, but a national movement. Although policies born from innovation need to be continuously reviewed through dialogue and criticism, the spirit to increase state revenue from various sectors must not recede. All these efforts lead to one goal: to improve the quality of national development for the progress of the nation, especially as Indonesia approaches its 80th anniversary and moves towards the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045.
