Legal Guarantees for Victim Protection Revenge Porn in Indonesia
Victims are protected by the Law on Sexual Violence Crimes (UU TPKS) Article 14 of the UU TPKS which regulates electronic-based sexual violence, explains that perpetrators can be sentenced to a maximum of four years in prison and/or a maximum fine of IDR 200 million.
Article 407 Paragraph (1) Law Number 1 of 2023 Concerning the Criminal Code, explains
“Any Person who produces, creates, reproduces, duplicates, disseminates, broadcasts, imports, exports, offers, trades, rents, or provides Pornography, shall be sentenced to a minimum imprisonment of 6 (six) Months and a maximum imprisonment of 10 (ten) years or a minimum fine of category IV and a maximum fine of category VI.”
With the legal protection provided, victims have the option to file a complaint through the National Commission on Violence Against Women or report it to the Legal Aid Institute of the Women's Association for Justice (LBH APIK) in their local area.
