Legal Literacy - In this modern era, the voices of young people are becoming increasingly important in shaping the social and political direction of a country. With increasing access to information and technology, the younger generation is not only becoming an audience, but also a major player in social change. However, amidst various complex socio-political issues, the phenomenon of "kabur aja dulu" (roughly translates to "just run away for now") has emerged as a response to situations deemed unfavorable. In this paper, we will discuss how the critical voices of young people play a role in the current socio-political context, as well as the challenges they face.

Dissatisfaction with the Political System

One of the main reasons behind the "kabur aja dulu" phenomenon is dissatisfaction with the existing political system. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in 2023, public trust in political institutions such as the DPR (House of Representatives) and political parties has decreased significantly, reaching 45% of total respondents. This shows that many young people feel that their voices are not heard in political decision-making.

A real example of this dissatisfaction can be seen in the protest movements carried out by young people in various regions. For example, demonstrations in 2022 demanded transparency in elections and the reduction of corruption. They feel that the existing system is unable to meet the needs and aspirations of the younger generation. Thus, "kabur aja dulu" becomes an option for some young people who feel that change is not possible within the existing system.
