Peeking into Alternative Energy Opportunities at the Household Scale
As a tropical country, Indonesia has abundant solar energy potential, the legal umbrella of which has been strengthened through Ministerial Regulation Number 2 of 2024 of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources regarding Rooftop Solar Power Plants. This regulation makes it easier for the public to install solar panels at home as an independent energy solution. The Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation (2025) notes that the use of Rooftop Solar Power Plants continues to increase as an anticipation measure against the increasingly depleted fossil energy crisis.
Investing in this environmentally friendly technology provides energy sovereignty for households amidst fluctuations in the international energy market. By producing our own energy, we become more resilient in the event of disruptions to conventional grids or increases in global electricity tariffs. This independent innovation is in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 7, which is to provide access to clean and affordable energy for all.
Logistics Stock Management Without Panic Buying
Building a fortress of resilience does not mean we have to hoard goods excessively, because hoarding actions can be subject to Law Number 7 of 2014 concerning Trade. Smart stock management is about having enough essential supplies for a period of 2-4 weeks on a scheduled basis. Having well-organized stock management will ensure that household budget efficiency is maintained without harming the rights of others in the market.
Make sure storage is done with the principle of First In, First Out (FIFO) to minimize food waste. According to a report from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (2024), food waste in Indonesia is still very high, even though the world is facing the threat of famine in various parts of the earth. Good household logistics management is a form of gratitude and our responsibility towards the availability of limited natural resources.
Resilient Financial Education and Emergency Funds
Energy and food crises are usually followed by inflation, so strict financial planning is crucial. The Financial Services Authority (2025) suggests that every household should have an emergency fund as an economic buffer against global uncertainty. Cutting consumptive spending is a solid financial defense strategy amid the threat of economic recession that haunts many countries.
It is also important to provide financial literacy to all family members so that they have the same understanding in carrying out efficiency. With cooperation, each family member can contribute to maintaining household economic resilience. Healthy finances are the foundation that allows us to stand tall when the storm of economic crisis strikes suddenly.
Strengthening Social Solidarity in the Neighborhood
The strongest fortress of resilience actually does not only stand in one house, but in a social network between neighbors. The concept of community food barns is very effective in maintaining consumption stability when market supplies are disrupted due to the global crisis. This social solidarity is the most organic safety net that Indonesian society has, in line with the spirit of mutual cooperation as the nation's noble value.
This small environmental cooperation is very effective for mitigating the impact of the crisis collectively, as regulated in the community empowerment function in Law Number 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. By sharing garden produce or food price information, we build a resilient ecosystem. In the end, strong national resilience is the accumulation of independent homes and caring environments.
