Legal Literacy - Criminals of Passion or Crimes of Passion in Indonesian, refers to violent crimes, especially murder, where the perpetrator acts against someone due to a sudden strong impulse such as anger or jealousy, rather than as a premeditated crime.
The term is often used in popular culture to describe crimes driven by uncontrolled romantic love, but the reality is often more complex.
Crime in Criminal Law and Criminology Perspective
Since ancient times, crime has been a serious phenomenon and problem in people's lives. Some examples of crimes such as persecution, theft, and even murder have existed since ancient times to the present era of modern society.
According to the Kamus Besar Bahasa Indonesia (KBBI) or the Great Indonesian Dictionary, crime is human behavior that is contrary to written laws ratified/enacted by the State as well as values and norms that apply in society. Some criminologists essentially define crime as human behavior that is considered to violate norms in society, causing harm and even causing victims. Sociologist Thorsten Sellin even defines crime as a violation of conduct norm (norms of conduct) which sometimes do not have to be contained in law.
The experts of criminal law also have their own thoughts regarding the definition of crime which is not much different from the opinions of criminologists. Such as R. Soesilo defines crime from a juridical point of view as an act of human behavior that is contrary to written law such as the Law, as well as from a sociological point of view crime is an act of human behavior that harms the victim as the suffering party and often leads to the loss of peace in society.
