Legal Literacy- This article discusses the lack of environmental protection, the controversy in the process of drafting Law Number 3 of 2020 concerning Amendments to Law Number 4 of 2009 concerning Mineral and Coal Mining (Minerba Law) which did not involve public participation, as well as various crucial issues that are still being pursued for the safety and convenience of the mining business. This article also discusses how the Minerba Law simplifies mining permits and exploitation without considering aspects of disaster-prone areas, food production, forests, and important ecological infrastructure, as well as criminalizing the people. The Minerba Law also gives the authority to control mine production only to the central government and weakens supervision of mining business activities.
