JAKARTA, Legal Literacy — The Head of the Sampang District Attorney's Office (Kajari), Fadilah Helmi, was reportedly picked up and secured by the Special Task Force (Satgasus) of the Attorney General's Office of the Republic of Indonesia on Tuesday (20/1/2026). This information was confirmed by the Head of the East Java High Prosecutor's Office (Kajati), Agus Sahat Lumban Gaol.
“They were brought by Jamintel (Kejagung), not by us. In Jakarta, taken there,” said Agus when confirmed on Wednesday (21/1/2026). He called the step a form of firm attitude from the leadership of the Attorney General's Office in responding to public reports.
Agus explained that securing Fadilah was a follow-up to various incoming reports, with the aim of maintaining the capacity, integrity, and reputation of the Prosecutor's Corps. However, he did not elaborate on the type of reports or the substance of the allegations against the Head of the Sampang Prosecutor's Office.
“We don't know the results yet. The follow-up is that Pam SDO (Organization Resource Security) follows up on reports like that, to maintain our dignity, to maintain the good name of the prosecutor,” he said.
Ethical Handling Handled by the Attorney General's Office
According to Agus, although the East Java High Prosecutor's Office oversees the Sampang Prosecutor's Office, cases related to prosecutorial ethics are handled directly by the Attorney General's Office. He also mentioned that the reports that formed the basis for the action did not only come from the East Java region, but were also allegedly related to the person's assignment in the previous place.
“It's not because of my region. There are several reports that are not only from here, but also from the previous place. So, it was clarified there,” said Agus. He added that the location and details of the report could not yet be disclosed.
Regent of Sampang Summoned for Clarification
Agus also conveyed that the Regent of Sampang, Slamet Junaidi, was also summoned by the Attorney General's Office team. However, unlike the Head of the Sampang Prosecutor's Office who was taken to Jakarta, the summons to the regent was for clarification in the East Java region.
“If the Regent is invited... we only facilitate the place. The Regent was not taken. The one taken to Jakarta was the Head of the Prosecutor's Office who was being examined,” said Agus.
Jamwas: Security to Facilitate Examination of Alleged Abuse of Authority
Separately, the Junior Attorney General for Supervision (Jamwas) of the Attorney General's Office, Rudi Margono, confirmed the security measures. According to him, the security was carried out by the intelligence division to facilitate the examination process. allegations of abuse of authority.
“From the Intelligence Division to facilitate the examination of allegations of abuse of authority,” said Rudi. Until now, there has been no further explanation regarding the form of the alleged abuse of authority in question. Fadilah Helmi has also not made a statement.
