JAKARTA, LITERASIHUKUM.COM – The Selection Committee (Pansel) for Candidates for Members of the Indonesian Ombudsman (ORI) held an objective test and paper writing stage for 350 participants who passed the administrative selection. The exam, which is a crucial part of the quality selection, was held at the State Civil Apparatus Competency Development Center of the Ministry of State Secretariat, Jakarta, on Wednesday, August 20, 2025. The Head of the ORI Pansel, Erwan Agus Purwanto, stated that this stage aims to test the candidates' in-depth understanding of the Ombudsman's function and public service issues. "The first session was attended by participants with serial numbers 1 to 175, and the second session was attended by participants with serial numbers 176 to 350," said Erwan in his official statement.

Increased Interest and Commitment to Representation

The selection of Ombudsman members for the 2026-2031 period shows an increase in the number of applicants compared to the previous period. Of the total 476 registrants, 387 were male and 89 were female, exceeding the 464 registrants in 2020. Erwan emphasized that the Pansel actively encourages representation from various backgrounds, including women, regions, professions, and groups with disabilities. "This is due to the support from women activist friends and the realization of the pansel's commitment to encouraging women's representation," said Erwan. This commitment is proven by the passing of one registrant from a group with disabilities to the quality selection stage.

Assessment Mechanism and Next Stages

To maintain the objectivity of the paper assessment, the Pansel involves ten people external reader from academics and practitioners. The assessment process will use the method double blind review, where the identity of the author and assessor is kept secret. "The assessment points that we will assess are about the participants' understanding of ORI, especially public services," explained Erwan. Participants who pass this stage will advance to the next selection, namely profile assessment. The results of the objective test and paper making will be officially announced on Friday, August 29, 2025, through the website of the Ministry of State Secretariat. The Pansel, which was formed by President Prabowo Subianto, is tasked with selecting and filtering candidates until 18 names are selected. These dozen names will then be submitted to the DPR RI to undergo a fit and proper test (fit and proper test) to select nine definitive members of the Ombudsman.
